This is the Iced Strawberry Mochi Matcha Latte ($6.70, tall, less ice) from Starbucks.
The drink featured strawberry mochi pearls in syrup, topped with iced matcha, and finished with a dusting of strawberry mochi powder and freeze-dried strawberry pieces.
On tasting, the liquid component was the highlight, delivering a toasty genmaicha-like flavour with a sweet, tangy freshness from the strawberry, reinforced by the pieces of intensely flavoured freeze-dried strawberry pieces. However, the strawberry mochi pearls—initially the most intriguing element—lacked the bouncy tenderness of tapioca pearls and did not carry a distinct strawberry flavour beyond a general sweet-tart quality. Ultimately, it was the genmaicha-like depth in the matcha-strawberry combination that made this drink stand out and worth repurchasing. The strawberry mochi pearls, however, did not contribute significantly to the overall experience.
This Iced Strawberry Mochi Matcha Latte was purchased from Starbucks in Sydney, Australia in March 2025.
