This is the Garlo’s Pies Junior Sausage Rolls, featuring minced beef (33%) and diced onion encased in flaky pastry.
Each pack contained 12 junior sausage rolls, each measuring approximately 7–8 cm in length. They were prepared by baking in an oven preheated to 175°C for 20–25 minutes. The pastry developed an even golden-brown finish with visible layers throughout. Aroma opened with notes of baked butter, seasoned beef and sweet onion.

Initial contact delivered a crisp and flaky pastry exterior that fractured readily, creating a satisfying contrast with the softer, more buttery inner pastry layers. The pastry provided both texture and richness without overwhelming the filling.
Through the mid-palate, the finely minced beef emerged with a tender crumb that separated easily with each bite. The filling was generously seasoned, with herbs and spices contributing savoury complexity while remaining balanced and restrained. Finely diced onion integrated seamlessly into the mixture, providing a gentle sweetness that complemented the beef rather than competing with it. Texture combined the delicate flake of the pastry with the soft, cohesive meat filling, resulting in a well-integrated structure that remained consistent from end to end.
Towards the finish, the seasoning and caramelised onion notes became more pronounced as the pastry richness receded. The filling retained its moisture throughout, avoiding the dryness that can affect smaller-format sausage rolls. Aftertaste carried lingering savoury beef notes alongside buttery pastry and subtle onion sweetness.
Overall, a sausage roll with a layered flavour progression and cohesive textural development, resulting in an exceptionally well-balanced combination of crisp pastry, tender filling and flavourful seasoning.
