This is the Asahi Mitsuya Lemon Cider 140, released as part of a series celebrating Mitsuya’s 140-year history. It uses frozen and finely ground lemon extract.

The beverage had a cloudy, pale yellow hue and a rich, zesty lemon aroma, similar to regular Mitsuya cider but with less ginger sharpness and more pronounced lemon zest. It featured strong carbonation. When consumed chilled, the vibrant lemon flavour was immediately noticeable, offering the zestiness of fresh lemons along with the juicy tartness of real fruit, rather than a processed or concentrated taste.
The intense carbonation amplified the zest at the start of each sip, while the juicy sourness built to a salivating intensity in the second half. This was balanced by a mild sweetness in the finish. The bubbles cleansed the palate, leaving a clean aftertaste, and the lemon’s sourness left the mouth salivating between sips. Overall, this drink was refreshing, with its bold, juicy lemon notes complemented by a balanced sweetness.
This Asahi Mitsuya Lemon Cider 140 contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
