Bourbon Alfort Mini Chocolate Crown Melon

This is the Bourbon Alfort Mini Chocolate Crown Melon, made using powdered Crown Melon from Shizuoka Prefecture.

Each box contained 12 pieces. Each piece comprised a rectangular layer of melon-flavoured chocolate set atop a small biscuit base. The chocolate measured approximately 3.5 × 2.5 × 0.5 cm and carried a soft pastel green hue, while the biscuit beneath was off-white and slightly smaller at roughly 2.5 × 2 × 0.5 cm. On opening, there was a distinctly sweet melon aroma—recognisable and fragrant without veering artificial.

On tasting, the biscuit delivered an audible crunch, its loose crumb providing structure through the first half of the bite. Almost simultaneously, the melon chocolate began to melt, releasing a vibrant and concentrated fruit flavour. The sweetness was rich yet clean, spreading across the palate with a velvety creaminess. Although there was no juicy acidity typically associated with fresh melon, the aromatic quality felt natural and well-judged. As the crumb dissipated, the melon note deepened and lingered gently in the aftertaste.

Overall, this was an elegant and confidently flavoured confection—assertively melon-forward, yet balanced and pleasing in its execution.

This Bourbon Alfort Mini Chocolate Crown Melon contained 60 g (5 g x 12 pieces). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
