This Whittaker’s Bittersweet Peanut Slab is a variation on the original Peanut Slab, swapping the 33% cocoa milk chocolate with a 50% cocoa dark chocolate.

The bar is described as ‘a generous serving of crunchy roasted peanuts [35%] with 50% cocoa, dark bittersweet chocolate in a chunky single-serve slab’.

The flavour of the dark chocolate has the same smooth and rich complexity often found in dark chocolates from Belgium. The bitterness and sweetness are well balanced by the creaminess of the chocolate itself, creating a bar of dark chocolate with a round flavour and smooth mouthfeel without any sharp bitterness. Here, the peanuts are an enjoyable crunchy addition to a bar of already great chocolate with a moreish roasted nuttiness. Compared to the original Whittaker’s Peanut Slab, it’s the dark chocolate that shines here.
