Initial contact delivered an immediate plastic-like chemical quality, resembling degraded plastic in the drink alongside a thick, viscous, goopy consistency. The profile again recalled molten plastic with mango flavouring. Through the mid-palate, creamy sweetness and acidity developed, but none of the fresh mango, pomelo or coconut milk notes emerged. Towards the finish, there was similarly no fresh fruit character, while the texture remained thick and gummy. Small lumps of sago provided some textural variation, but did not improve the overall structure. The combination was thoroughly unpalatable, with the flavour giving a strong impression of having gone off, although this may have instead resulted from an intensely heat-treated fruit juice character.
Overall, a ready-to-drink dessert beverage with a disjointed flavour trajectory and poorly integrated viscous texture, resulting in an overwhelmingly chemical profile with none of the fresh fruit character expected from mango pomelo sago.
