Monteith’s was the brand of the first cider that we enjoyed: Monteith’s Orchard Thieves with Mandarin & Lime. It’s produced and sold in New Zealand, so not something available in Australia. We can, however, find Monteith’s Crushed Pear Cider.
The cider is a translucent pale straw colour with a prominent alcoholic nose and high carbonation. Served chilled, a lightly sweet pear flavour came through in the head developing with moderate acidity briefly towards the body before receding just as swiftly to give way to a smooth and crisp mouthfeel with a clear sweetness in the finish that lingered into the aftertaste.
Overall, this is a refreshing cider and suited to those who prefer their ciders less sweet.
This Monteith’s Crushed Pear Cider contained 330 ml. It was produced in New Zealand and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
