In the lazy mood for some roast chicken but not up for another dry one from the supermarket, we headed instead to Oporto to try their Flame Grilled Portuguese Chicken ($17.00, whole). The chicken is ‘flame-grilled flat and brush-basted with [our] choice of lemon & herb […] sauce’.
This chicken was the most succulent we’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Every piece was juicy and cooked to perfection — even the breast pieces avoided being squeaky — while the lemon and herb sauce added a hint of tang and flavour as well as more moisture. While the skin was not crispy, it did deliver an enjoyable smokiness to the chicken. There’s little to fault in this chicken, but we’re thinking the original chilli sauce basting would kick it up to an even more delicious notch.
