This is the Sunyodo Unshū Mikan Jelly, which contained about 16 peeled mikan segments about 3 cm in width.
Upon unsealing the package, a pleasant mandarin fragrance was noticeable, and this vibrant aroma seamlessly translated to the taste. The small mikan segments, thoughtfully peeled and naturally without seeds, provided juicy, petite bites with a subtle, almost imperceptible natural tang. These morsels preserved the genuine form and consistency of freshly picked fruit, bursting with the most vivid mikan flavour. The surrounding jelly carried a more understated mikan note and a delicate sweetness. This discerningly prepared jelly, using agar, achieved equilibrium—omitting the rebound characteristic of konjac-based jellies while avoiding the structural fragility often seen in fully agar-set jellies. The outcome was a pleasantly smooth texture. On the whole, this jelly was a homage to the delightful deliciousness of the mikan.
