This is the Tarami Kudamonoyasan Grape Jelly. It consisted of five peeled purple grapes suspended in grape flavoured jelly made using purple grape juice.
The transparent wine-red hue of the jelly contrasted with the pale green-white grapes, while a sweet and vibrant red grape aroma emanated from the jelly. The seedless, peeled grapes retained the crispness of fresh grapes, delivering a sweet flavour with a subtle underlying acidity, much like their fresh counterparts. The balance of flavours tasted natural, devoid of artificiality. The jelly’s slightly bouncy texture maintained its form on the spoon but dissolved smoothly on the palate with gentle pressure. Overall, this jelly offered a refreshing fruity experience, faithfully replicating the flavours and textures of fresh grapes, making it more akin to a fruit snack than a typical confectionery item.
This Tarami Kudamonoyasan Budō Jelly contained 160 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
