This is the Earl Grey Latte w/ Honey Pearl ($7.80, +$1.00 for large, 30% sugar, no ice) from Milksha. Being the most widely favored beverage on their global menu, it was only logical that we chose it as our inaugural drink after their opening.
The drink featured an opaque tan color with golden tan pearls at the base. When enjoyed chilled, it displayed a good black tea flavour with moderate notes of bergamot, although it lacked vibrancy and felt somewhat thin on the palate, missing the velvety richness found in drinks from Bubble Nini. However, the pearls were exceptional – tender all the way through, offering a delightful chew and a subtle hint of honey flavour that was not overwhelming, as can sometimes be the case with brown sugar pearls. Overall, it proved to be a pleasant beverage, but apart from the honey pearls, the milk tea itself failed to distinguish itself with a vibrant depth of flavour or a velvety creamy mouthfeel, typically associated with premium milk teas.
