This is the Fujiya Nectar Kodawari White Peach. It contained 35% purée from akatsuki peaches grown in Fukushima Prefecture. Akatsuki peaches are known for their deep flavor, lower water content and high natural sweetness, with a distinctive apperance: the inside of these peaches is white with a red-pink burst around the pit. The beverage came in an paper straw-less design, or a can form made using cardboard.
The drink was an opaque beige-pink hue, and emitted a sweet aroma akin to ripe white peach flesh, reminiscent of peach nectar. When enjoyed chilled, deep white peach notes accompanied by sweet floral hints emerged at the forefront of each sip, followed by a touch of refreshing juicy acidity towards the end. The beverage’s luxurious texture, with its notable viscosity, provided a velvety mouthfeel that enhanced the rich peach notes, allowing them to linger on the palate, yet avoiding the overly saccharine taste often associated with 100% peach nectars in the West.
