This is the Asahi Calpis Water Cool Lychee, containing 1% lychee juice.
The beverage had an opaque white hue and a mellow sweet–tart aroma reminiscent of drinking yoghurt, lifted by subtle floral notes. When consumed chilled, it delivered an immediate lychee presence that felt cooling on the palate, with a gentle sweetness and a lively acidity that developed mid-sip. The resulting flavour was a natural, juicy, floral lychee profile that paired seamlessly with the sweet–tart character of Calpis. Toward the finish, a faint savoury note appeared, echoing the lightly salted lychee drinks popular in Japan and lending a subtle electrolyte-like quality.
When frozen and shaken, as recommended, it developed an airy kakigōri-like texture that was markedly refreshing and highly thirst-quenching.
Overall, this was a bright, floral, and well-balanced lychee–Calpis pairing with excellent refreshment value.
