This is the Lupicia Sakura Rooibos.
The tea consisted of a caffeine-free blend of red rooibos, salted cherry leaves, and natural flavourings of raspberry and cherry, designed to evoke the atmosphere of spring hanami.
One 2.5 g teabag steeped in 200 mL of freshly boiled water produced a deep reddish-brown infusion, releasing a fragrant bouquet of fruity cherry and earthy rooibos. Consumed hot, the tea opened with a pronounced cherry aroma—juicy and slightly tart in character—though this remained primarily aromatic, as the brew itself was free of actual acidity or sugar. The naturally sweet, mellow, and slightly earthy red rooibos carried the flavour, offering warmth and depth. In the finish, the subtle vanilla tones of the rooibos surfaced, complemented by a mild umami note from the salted cherry leaves, giving the tea a savoury, softly floral conclusion. The result was a full-bodied infusion that lingered gently, evoking a spring evening after rainfall—balmy, rounded, and comforting.
This Lupicia Sakura Rooibos contained 10 x 2.5 g tea bags. The tea was sourced from South Africa, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Australia in 2025.
