The tea was a looseleaf blend of bergamot-scented Darjeeling tea with dried apple and rose petals.
Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of 85ºC water for 3 minutes, the resulting infusion displayed an amber hue with an aroma characterized by bergamot and apple scents. Served hot, distinct apple notes reminiscent of the fruit’s skin took the forefront, accompanied by a subtle floral accent. As the taste transitioned to the body, prominent bergamot undertones emerged alongside a mild bitterness and moderate astringency. These characteristics persisted into the aftertaste, intermingling harmoniously with the returning apple flavour. Subsequent steepings of the same looseleaf highlighted the apple notes anew, while the bergamot and astringency assumed a more subdued presence. Overall, the combination of invigorating apple and the robust Darjeeling base introduced an additional layer of complexity to the traditional fruitiness associated with Earl Grey, ultimately resulting in a gratifying tea experience.
