With the 2018-2019 summer becoming one of the driest and hottest, we cooled off with a The Alley LuJiaoXiang Kiwi Slush ($7.40, includes tapioca pearls) with hopes that it would impress more than the Gotcha Kiwi Tea.

The drink was a translucent green yellow colour flecked with black kiwifruit seeds and black tapioca pearls at the base. Consumed frozen, the drink had a mellow sweetness with a prominent tartness that, along with the kiwifruit seeds throughout, is much like the flavour of a fresh kiwifruit. And one would not expect anything less as they actually use fresh kiwifruit in the making of the drink. The consistency of the slush hits the perfect balance between frozen and liquid, allowing the pearls to go up the straw with the slush unlike the Bursties from Hungry Jacks. This is fast becoming one of our favourite drinks.
