This is the Asahi Calpis x Mintia, a collaboration between two of Asahi’s popular products, Calpis drinkable yoghurt and Mintia mints.

Each box contained 50 pieces, each cylindrical in shape, measuring 0.7 cm in diameter and 0.3 cm in height. They had a white hue flecked with yellow and a sweet-tangy Calpis aroma. Some pieces featured a ‘lucky relief’ pattern of a cheeky emoji.

On tasting, the smooth surface released an immediate Calpis flavour—sweet like drinkable yoghurt—swiftly followed by a refreshing tangy quality and a subtle sharpness in the finish. Compared with the drink, the flavour was more refreshing and tarter, with the yoghurt presence distinct yet restrained. This restraint worked to its advantage, avoiding the cloying saccharine character that dominated other Mintia flavours such as pudding and melon soda. The result was a well-balanced Calpis profile that freshened the palate, even without the cooling element typical of mints.

Overall, this mint offered a clean, tangy take on Calpis with balanced sweetness and restraint, making it a refreshing and well-judged collaboration.
