There’s something about chocolate and nuts that go together so well that makes this ice cream rendition of the favourite Cadbury Picnic chocolate bar so tasty. It’s described as being ‘creamy chocolate flavoured and caramel flavoured ice cream with chocolate coated wafer pieces, peanut pieces and caramel sauce’.

The chocolate and caramel flavoured ice creams sit side by side in the tub. The chocolate side is studded with peanut pieces, while the caramel side has ribbons of caramel sauce throughout as well as chocolate coated wafer pieces. We liked the crunch of the peanuts as we expected, but were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the caramel side — the chocolate coated wafer pieces were generous and delivered pops of chocolate flavour and slight chewiness (the wafer was not entirely crisp) that added great textural interest.

Overall, the combination of the two flavours did recall a Picnic chocolate bar with its rich chocolate, nuttiness and sweet caramel. We could easily be persuaded to pick this ice cream over the chocolate bar in this sweltering summer heat.
