Dashi and nori are two ingredients at the heart of Japanese cuisine, and incidentally, the flavour combination chosen to represent the Kantō region in the regional series, so this here is Calbee Jagariko Kantō Nori Dashi. Both dashi and nori are known for their umami-rich qualities so this flavour was bound to be pleasing.

Each tub had around 30 sticks that were a yellow-green colour with generous flecks of dark green throughout.

The smell of nori is deliciously palpable on opening the tub. Upon tasting, there’s a light brothy flavour of dried fish shavings on the first bite before the subtly sweet and lightly salty roasted flavours of nori came through in the body and combine to create an incredibly moreish umami flavour that keeps you chasing the flavour and reaching back into the tub for more. The overall flavour was mild but incredibly delicious.
This tub of Calbee Jagariko Kantō Nori Dashi contained 52 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2018.
