This is the Fujiya Nectar Katjitsu Shokkan Gumi Wanashi, containing 10 per cent purée from nashi pears produced in the city of Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture.

Each gummy was heart-shaped, measuring approximately 2 cm at its widest point and 1.2 cm in height, with a soft beige hue and a pronounced aroma of ripe nashi.

On tasting, the surface presented a very slight oily touch with a fine-grained roughness, followed by a notably dense interior. The gummy bit through cleanly, lacking the elasticity typically associated with gelatin-based confectionery. The texture remained consistent through to the centre. After several chews, the nashi flavour emerged clearly, beginning with rich sweetness before developing mid-bite into gentle, juicy acidity. Fine crystals within the gummy introduced a light crunch and subtle cooling sensation as they fractured and dissolved, effectively mimicking the granular mouthfeel of fresh nashi flesh. The combination of crunch, concentrated fruit flavour, and firm density convincingly evoked the experience of eating the fresh fruit, although the absence of bounce may not suit those who prefer a more elastic gummy texture.

Overall, a dense and fruit-forward gummy that closely emulated fresh nashi through flavour and texture, though with a firmer profile than preferred.
