These are the Thin Tofu Chips ($17.00/kg; minimum order 300 g) from Hòa Hưng Tofu. Although we wouldn’t usually order them, a friend recommended we give them a try.

The chips were about 1.5 x 1.5 x 7 cm in size and for use as part of a dish, as a snack or as garnish.

When purchased, the tofu chips lacked crispiness, having been pre-portioned into paper bags while hot and becoming rather soggy by the time they reached home. Reheating them in the air fryer restored a crisp exterior, but the interior remained spongy, more akin to fried tofu than to fluffy potato chips. On their own, the chips were bland, but they greatly improved with the addition of sweet chilli sauce. Overall, while these could be considered a “healthy” alternative, they lacked the texture and flavour satisfaction of real chips and are not worth repurchasing.
