This offering is part of the ‘Pride Potato – Nihon no Kamiwaza’ series, dedicated to upholding traditional culture and fostering new cultural developments in cities throughout Japan. In line with this commitment, a percentage of the proceeds from this Kanazawa-inspired product is directed towards ‘projects associated with the advancement of culture in Kanazawa City’ and the ‘Kanazawa College of Arts Education and Research Fund.’

The chips were coated in an orange-yellow seasoning and boasted a rich shrimp aroma. Upon tasting, an initial savoury note with a hint of sweetness melted away to the rich sea flavour of sweet shrimp, which lingered alongside the initial savoury sweetness, delivering a deep umami experience that persisted into the finish. Throughout the chip, the robust potato flavour was pronounced, complementing the sweet shrimp flavour without overpowering the other. Their luxurious flavour profile was accompanied by a texture that balanced the thin and delicate crispness of Lay’s and the thicker, audibly crunchy texture of kettle-cooked chips.
