This is the Koikeya Karamuchō Wagyu & Wasabi, a thin-cut potato chip featuring a sweet soy, beef, and wasabi seasoning system.

The chips presented with a thin-cut format, measuring approximately 4–5 cm in diameter and about 1 mm in thickness. They had an even pale yellow hue with a light orange-brown seasoning coating distributed across the surface. The structure appeared flat and uniform. Aroma opened with an umami-rich, sweet-savoury profile suggestive of fatty beef, supported by a mild soy sweetness.

Initial contact delivered an immediate sweet soy profile from the seasoning alongside a mellow beef note. The chips fractured cleanly with a crisp snap. Through the mid-palate, wasabi emerged gradually, introducing a tingling heat with aromatic sharpness rather than direct intensity. The spice developed in a controlled manner, sitting above the savoury base. As the potato broke down, it contributed a mild sweetness that supported the seasoning. Towards the finish, the beef profile deepened, shifting from background to a more defined presence, with a sweetness reminiscent of rendered beef fat. Aftertaste carried a lingering wasabi heat alongside a mellow sweet soy note. There was light seasoning transfer to the fingers, though the chips remained dry to the touch without perceptible oiliness.
Overall, a crisp chip with controlled wasabi lift over a sweet soy–beef base, finishing warm and balanced.
