This is the Lotte Koala’s March Frank Muller Geneve Lemon Tart, a collaboration product with Franck Muller, a luxury Swiss mechanical watch brand known for its own patisserie located in Ginza Six, Tōkyō.

Each bag contained 22 pieces, each measuring approximately 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm at its widest. In collaboration with Franck Muller, the print featured a time-themed design using Byzantine numerals found on the dials of “Franck Muller” timepieces on the packaging and biscuit designs. The package included a total of 284 designs, comprising 260 regular designs and 24 collaboration designs, randomly enclosed.

The flavour in these cookies are inspired by Franck Muller Patisserie’s ‘Lemon Tart’. The filling features white chocolate crafted from whole Japanese confit lemons transformed into a paste and infused into a butter cream. The cookie itself is made with 0.4% fermented butter.
The cookies had a richly sweet aroma, but their actual flavours were more balanced when tasted. Upon biting into them, the cookies provided a light texture yet rich flavour, with an audible crunch before reaching the pastel yellow hued center. The lemon flavour was exceptionally rich, showcasing the evident effort in transforming whole confit lemons into paste, resulting in a fresh lemon taste. The combination with butter lent the lemon flavour a creamy and velvety mouthfeel, with a subtle sweetness that preceded the vibrant tartness of the fruit’s juice. In the latter part of each bite, the fragrant yet gentle bitterness from the zest emerged. Overall, these cookies celebrated the collaboration with a luxurious lemon flavour with finesse and layered complexity.
