This is the Lupicia Gourmand Glaces & Sorbets Momo Oolong Super Grade, an ice cream made using Lupicia’s loose-leaf tea of the same name, by steeping the tea in milk and straining out the leaves prior to freezing. This approach stands in contrast to Ice Kirin Bar’s version, where the tea leaves are finely ground and blended directly into the ice cream base.

The ice cream had a uniform off-white, beige-green hue and released a distinctive white peach aroma—floral, dewy, and consistent with the scent profile of the original tea. On tasting, it presented a more prominent tea-forward flavour than the Kirin version. The floral peach fragrance appeared as an undertone, complementing rather than dominating the flavour. The mouthfeel was notably creamier and thicker, offering a smoother, more elegant expression of the tea. In contrast, the Kirin version was fruitier and sweeter, leaning more clearly into a peach dessert profile.
Here, the oolong component—lightly oxidised, with its characteristic freshness and clarity—was the central note, with the peach emerging more as a scent rather than a flavour in its own right. It reflected the reality of the tea’s composition, where the peach is used to scent the oolong rather than being present as fruit. As such, the result was refined and balanced, showcasing the oolong with restraint and delicacy. Both this and the Kirin version offered well-executed interpretations of the same tea, arriving at distinct yet equally enjoyable outcomes.
