We’ve long been fans of this Meiji Gochi Gummy Grape after first enjoying them in 2018.

Each gummy is an elliptical shape around 3 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm in size wtih a dark purple colour, coated in sour sugar, and a bright grape aroma.

Upon tasting, there’s an initial sourness from the sour sugar coating, before reaching the gummy with a very satisfying firmness. The resistance on the teeth persists throughout the chew of each gummy but does not stick to the teeth, while releasing a juicy purple grape flavour. While the flavour was characteristic of budō flavoured foods in Japan, these gummy stand out for their juicy flavour and firmer chew. We’re fans.

This Meiji Gochi Gummy Grape contained 52 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kumamoto, Japan in 2019.
