Nespresso Variations Forest Fruit

This Nespresso Variations Forest Fruit and was part of the Festive 2021 lineup in collaboration with Colombian fashion designer Johanna Ortiz who was inspired by the forest.

It was a split roasted blend of fine ground South American Arabicas flavoured with forest fruit. The Brazillian coffee was lightly roasted, while the majority of the Colombian coffee beans were short-roasted. It didn’t have the usual intensity rating and comes in a dark red-coloured capsule with a fern motif.

The espresso was an opaque brown-black colour with a juicy berry aroma. Served as a long black with a 1:1 water-to-espresso ratio, the berry notes that came through at the head of each sip captured the juiciness of the berries with the slightest hint of sweetness. A gentle acidity developed in the body from the coffee base to heighten the sensation of a fresh berry flavour before a mild bitterness emerged in the finish. While Nespresso suggested the coffee had ‘festive pastry notes’ we’re more inclined to describe it as the coffee version of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Black Forest — we enjoyed this smooth variation.

This Nespresso Variations Forest Fruit contained 10 x 4.9 g capsules. It was produced in Switzerland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
