This is the Nissin Foods Cup Noodles Clam Chowder.

The noodles featured a noodle cake accompanied by toppings of dehydrated vegetables (potato, onion, parsley flakes) and clam.

Upon opening the package, the noodles had a nondescript savoury aroma. After rehydrating them with boiling water up to the designated line inside the cup for 3 minutes, the soup base took on an opaque off-white hue, developing a creamy viscosity that coated the noodles akin to a cream sauce.

Upon tasting, the initial nondescript aroma translated to a similarly vague savoury flavour, attributed to the mixture of ‘shrimp, pork, scallop, clam, chicken and fish’ flavours. The seafood essence was scarcely perceptible, with only the rehydrated clams offering a hint of rich seafood taste, reminiscent of dried squid. However, the presence of these clams was sparse. The rehydrated potato lacked flavour and had a mushy texture, while the onion, though better in texture, contributed only mild sweetness. The texture of the noodles was typical of Nissin Cup Noodles—they retained their bite after rehydration but lacked the elasticity of stove-cooked noodles.

Overall, the over-reliance on the scarce dehydrated clams to carry the ‘clam chowder’ flavour left these noodles falling short of expectations. As a result, they did not live up to their promised chowder flavour and would not be worth repurchasing.
