This is the Nissin Foods Raoh Instant Noodles Yuzu Salt. Nissin Raoh is a line of instant noodles manufactured in Japan (in contrast to many other Nissin products imported into Australia) and made with whole-grain wheat.

The single pack contained a round cake of dried whole-grain wheat noodles as well as a sachet of yuzu and chicken flavoured soup base. The noodles are speckled from the whole grain, while the soup base is the yellow colour of yuzu zest.

The instant noodles are prepared on the stove by cooking the noodles in 450 mL water for 4 minutes. The noodles and the cooking water are poured over the soup base in the bowl. For more al dente noodles and a clearer soup, we deviated from the recommended instructions by cooking the noodles for 3.5 minutes, then discarding the water in which the noodles erre cooked and preparing the soup base with fresh boiling water.

The cooked instant noodles had a zesty yuzu aroma. Upon tasting, the soup was light with a smooth and mellow chicken flavour accented by a hint of yuzu that was far more subtle than its fragrant aroma suggested and gave the comforting soup a clean finish. The whole-grain noodles had a bright wheat flavour and delivered a delectable al dente bounce to the teeth that were much like Korean potato noodles but with a more satisfying elegance. These noodles were sold at a premium in Australia but are well worth trying.

This Nissin Foods Raoh Instant Noodles Yuzu Salt contained 93 g (80 g noodles, 13 g soup base). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
