This is YBC Aya Kanade Apple x Custard, a sandwich cookie featuring 5% apple juice.

Each box contained 6 individually sealed cookies.

The cookies presented in a circular sandwich format, measuring approximately 5 cm in diameter. The biscuits were an even golden brown, with an open lattice pattern on the top and a closed lattice imprint on the base. They enclosed a golden-yellow apple layer and a pale cream custard layer, with each component occupying roughly one-third of the total height. Aroma opened with a combination of baked biscuit notes and a sweet, cooked apple profile.

On tasting, the initial contact delivered a smooth, crisp biscuit that broke into a light, medium crumb. This gave way to the soft custard layer, followed by a thicker apple centre.
Through the mid-palate, the biscuit contributed a lightly toasted, Maillard note, which transitioned into a rounded, creamy sweetness from the custard. The custard was mild and non-eggy, functioning more as a textural and sweetening element. As the centre was reached, the apple layer introduced a firmer, cohesive, gel-like texture. It held its shape while adding a mild chew, binding the biscuit and custard together and extending flavour development. As the biscuit crumb dissolved, the custard receded, allowing the apple to become more prominent. Towards the finish, the profile shifted to a fuller apple note, with a light aromatic tartness balancing the sweetness. The aftertaste carried a soft apple flavour with a faint baked note from the biscuit, without residual stickiness.
Overall, a sandwich biscuit with balanced apple–custard profile and a layered structure that extends flavour through a cohesive centre.
