This is the Nippon Yell Dried Fruit Niigata Cherry Tomato, made from dried and candied mini tomatoes grown in Niigata Prefecture.

Each piece consisted of halved or quartered cherry tomatoes, about 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter, with an orange to dark red hue. They had a sweet aroma. The exterior was dry and firm but yielded easily when bitten, offering little resistance. The initial sweetness from the candied coating quickly gave way to the rich sweet-acidity of perfectly ripe cherry tomatoes, with the tomato flavour intensifying towards the finish. The skin, seeds, and flesh provided subtle yet enjoyable textural contrasts, with the seeds and skin lingering for a satisfying bite. While these candied tomatoes were sweet, they retained the essence of the fresh fruit, without the intensity or texture of a sundried tomato, making them ideal for snacking. They were vastly superior to the very poorly candied Tomoguchi Dried Cherry Tomatoes.

This Nippon Yell Dried Fruit Niigata Cherry Tomato contained 17 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
