Kamakura Warabimochi Suzuki Milk Coffee with Warabimochi

This is the Suzuki Milk Coffee with Warabimochi ($10.80, fixed sweetness, fixed ice) from Kamakura Warabimochi. It features Suzuki Coffee’s Yukimuro Coffee Premium Ice Sugar-Free bottled coffee. Founded in 1958, Suzuki Coffee is a Niigata-based roastery known for producing and supplying coffee to the restaurant industry.

The beverage presented a layered gradient, with dark brown warabimochi at the base, a middle layer of white milk, and a light brown coffee layer on top. Consumed chilled and stirred, the aromatic coffee notes were immediately evident, creating a fragrant and smooth drinking experience. The latte itself was unsweetened, relying on the milk and warabimochi for sweetness, which provided an ideal balance when mixed. The warabimochi added a melt-in-the-mouth texture, giving the overall experience a resemblance to drinkable milk coffee jelly. However, as the ice melted, the flavour became noticeably weaker.

Overall, this pairing of warabimochi with coffee and milk was enjoyable and worth trying, though the hōjicha latte remained the preferred option for a more refined balance of flavours.

This Suzuki Milk Coffee with Warabimochi was purchased from Kamakura Warabi Mochi in Sydney, Australia in March 2025.
