Lupicia’s flavoured black teas are slowly warming me up to drinking black teas without sugar or milk by not overwhelming with the boldness of the black tea. This Lupicia Blueberry Black Tea is an example.

The tea is a looseleaf black tea blended with dried blueberry and blueberry leaf and scented with blueberry.

Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 96°C for 2.5 minutes the tea was a clear dark amber colour with a fragrant, sweet blueberry aroma. Served hot, sweet notes of blueberry came through at the head of each sip developing with the strong, full-bodied flavour of the black tea. A gentle acidity emerged towards the end of the body for a finish that captured both the sweet and acidic notes of the blueberry before leaving a fruity and lightly astringent aftertaste. Overall, the blueberry notes are true to the fresh fruit and pairs well with the natural sweetness of the black tea.

This Lupicia Blueberry Black Tea contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from India and Vietnam, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Kyōto, Japan in 2015.
