This is the HiPeace Waguri Hōjicha, a hōjicha infused with the fragrance of domestically produced chestnuts.

The beverage had a translucent brown hue with a nutty, earthy sweetness reminiscent of chestnuts.
When consumed chilled, it opened with immediate chestnut notes, mellow and earthy, before unfolding into the roasted body of the hōjicha. Towards the finish, the roasted tea receded, allowing the chestnut qualities to return with a fragrant, earthy sweetness that lingered without the aid of sugar or sweetener, before giving way to a clean aftertaste. The pairing of chestnut and hōjicha added notable depth, layering earthy nuttiness over the roasted sweetness of the tea, while ensuring that both flavours remained distinct and balanced.
Overall, a well-balanced infusion that deepened the roasted character of hōjicha with an earthy nuttiness and subtle sweetness, making for a fragrant and satisfying beverage worth repurchasing.
This HiPeace Waguri contained 350 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
