This is the Haigh’s Chocolates Duet, featuring two 69% dark chocolate truffles: Champagne and Shiraz.

Dark Shiraz Truffle
This truffle had a smooth dark chocolate centre infused with Coriole Shiraz (1.5%), then coated in dark chocolate. The Shiraz contributed musky, wine-like berry notes, with the bitterness and alcohol presence becoming most pronounced in the finish as a distinct astringency. Despite this, the chocolate itself was exceptionally smooth and creamy.

Dark Champagne Truffle
This truffle featured a creamy white chocolate centre infused with Champagne (0.4%), enrobed in dark chocolate, and lightly dusted with icing sugar. The Champagne added light, fresh fruit notes that complemented the sweetness of the white chocolate. It had a smooth, creamy texture with a noticeable but more delicate alcohol presence, less sharp and astringent than the Shiraz truffle.

Overall, these were well-crafted chocolates that showcased high-quality ingredients and precise execution. However, as alcohol-infused chocolates are not a particular preference, they were appreciated more for their craftsmanship than personal enjoyment.
