This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Kōchi Yuzu, made with juice from yuzu grown in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan’s largest producer of the fruit.

Each gummy had an opaque yellow hue, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with a sweet, floral yuzu aroma.

On tasting, the fine coating of sugar crystals on the exterior provided a pleasant initial sweetness before revealing a gently tart and elegantly floral yuzu flavour. The gummy had a satisfyingly bouncy texture, releasing an increasingly juicy flavour with each chew—distinctly yuzu juice rather than zesty. The outer layer bit through cleanly to a tender, jelly-like core, where a sweeter, yet still fresh yuzu quality emerged. This combined with the tanginess of the gummy to create a vibrant and well-rounded yuzu flavour, marked by its smooth balance of sweetness and acidity.

Overall, these gummies beautifully captured the refreshing essence of fresh yuzu juice, offering a delightful departure from the more common cooked yuzu marmalade flavour.
