This is the Aerocano Yuzu ($6.70) from Starbucks, featuring an iced, air-whipped Americano that transforms Starbucks Blonde Espresso into a velvety microfoam using yuzu syrup.
The beverage presented with a cascading ombré effect, with a darker brown base gradually giving way to an off-white foam head. Aroma opened with bright yuzu zest, supported by lightly roasted espresso and delicate floral citrus notes.
Initial contact delivered an exceptionally smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with the air-whipping technique producing a fine microfoam reminiscent of a shakerato, the classic Italian iced coffee prepared by vigorously shaking espresso with ice. Through the mid-palate, the yuzu syrup became the defining flavour, introducing vibrant citrus with gentle floral notes that brightened the espresso without overwhelming it. The Blonde Espresso remained present, contributing a mild roasted bitterness that was softened by both the silky foam and the rounded sweetness of the yuzu. Texture remained consistently light and velvety throughout, while the persistent foam gave each sip a creamy quality despite the complete absence of milk.
Towards the finish, the citrus gradually receded, allowing the espresso to re-emerge with a restrained bitterness balanced by lingering yuzu oils. The microfoam dissipated cleanly, leaving a refreshing, lightly floral aftertaste with subtle roasted coffee notes.
Overall, a flavoured iced black coffee with a layered flavour trajectory and exceptionally well-integrated microfoam, resulting in a refreshing and surprisingly creamy coffee without the use of milk.
This Aerocano Yuzu was purchased from Starbucks in Sydney, Australia in July 2026.
