Lupicia Jardin Sauvage

This is the Lupicia Jardin Sauvage, a green rooibos from South Africa scented with ripe mango and citrus fruits.

The dry leaf presented with a golden brown hue, with yellow and blue dried petals alongside cubes of dried mango. Aroma opened with tropical notes of ripe mango, complemented by a fresh citrus lift.

Prepared by infusing 5 g of loose tea in 200 mL of just boiled water for 5 minutes, the infusion presented with a transparent orange hue. Aroma carried the same tropical profile, accompanied by a fresh citrus lift.

Initial contact delivered immediate notes of ripe mango, capturing the fruit’s characteristic flavour without its accompanying sweetness or acidity, alongside a light, smooth mouthfeel. Through the mid-palate, the citrus notes gradually emerged, providing a gentle aromatic lift that added freshness without introducing tartness. The liquor remained soft and smooth through the body. Towards the finish, the tropical fruit receded as the citrus notes gradually cleared, tapering into a subtle dryness across the palate before resolving with a clean aftertaste.

Overall, a green rooibos with a gentle tropical-to-citrus flavour progression and a light, smooth mouthfeel, resulting in a clean, refreshing and highly approachable infusion.

This Lupicia Jardin Sauvage contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from South Africa, packaged in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
