Fruits Design Factory Bijin Senka Soft Dried Shine Muscat

This is the Fruits Design Factory Bijin Senka Soft Dried Shine Muscat, made from semi-dried Shine Muscat grapes grown in Yamagata Prefecture.

Each package contained 12 soft-dried grapes, with the largest measuring approximately 2.5 x 2 x 0.7 cm and the smallest around 2 x 1 x 0.7 cm. The sultanas had a typical wrinkled appearance with a fine white sugar coating and an unmistakable sweet, tropical muscat aroma.

On tasting, the same tropical muscat notes were immediately apparent, beginning with an initial sweetness from the exterior sugar. The skin of the semi-dried grape yielded easily to a soft yet dense centre, with each chew releasing an increasingly juicy, tropical fragrance. The texture was noticeably softer and more moist than typical sultanas in the West, while the flavour of the Shine Muscat closely resembled the fresh grape in a concentrated form, akin to high-quality fruit gummies.

The bright, juicy tropical acidity made these semi-dried grapes exceptionally enjoyable—vastly superior to Western sultanas and raisins. They captured the fresh fruit’s vibrant essence and were easily the best dried grapes we have tasted to date, making them well worth repurchasing as a snack.
