This is the Nippon Yell Dried Fruit Ōita Kiwifruit, made from kiwifruit grown in Ōita Prefecture, dried and candied.

Each piece consisted of round slices of kiwifruit, varying in size from 3 to 4 cm at their widest, with a yellow-green to khaki hue. They had a sweet aroma with mellow kiwifruit notes. The exterior was dry and firm but yielded easily when bitten, offering little resistance except for the gentle crunch of the seeds. Despite being candied, the kiwifruit presented an initial burst of sourness on the palate that persisted mid-bite, with the flavour intensifying with each chew as the mouth adjusted to the acidity. The taste was a concentrated version of the fresh fruit, showcasing tart strawberry-like notes, tropical pineapple flavours, and a mellow banana-like sweetness. The crispness of the seeds added a pleasing textural contrast to the subtle fibres in the flesh, providing an enjoyable chew.
Overall, these candied and dried kiwifruit slices struck a perfect balance between flavour intensity and the moisture retained during the candying process, making them far superior to other dried kiwifruits, and well worth repurchasing.
