This is the Yamazaki Biscuits Aerial Yaki Tōmorokoshi. These chips consisted of four layers of corn. They were first fried, then coated in kioke shikomi soy sauce (wooden barrel-brewed soy sauce aged for a year), grilled over fire, and finally finished with corn-flavoured powder.

Each chip measured approximately 3.5 x 2.5 x 2 cm and emitted a sweet aroma of caramelised soy sauce and corn. Upon tasting, the soy sauce flavour was immediately evident, accompanied by a subtle sweetness reminiscent of corn soup. Crunching through the thin layers of corn, the soy sauce flavour deepened, offering an aromatic depth, while the the layers released a richer corn flavour. In the finish, the bold umami combination of corn and soy sauce lingered on the palate, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.

Overall, the chips excelled in emphasising a savoury flavour profile by pairing the sweetness of corn with caramelised soy sauce. Additionally, the larger and more satisfying size of each chip contributed to their superiority compared to Orion Turtle Chips Sweet Corn.

This Yamazaki Biscuits Aerial Yaki Tōmorokoshi contained 70 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
