Malebranche Cha no Ka Okoicha Langue de Chat

This is the Malebranche Cha no Ka Okoicha Langue de Chat, a matcha-infused langue de chat made with Uji green tea, including carefully selected tea leaves from Shirakawa, Uji, Kyōto. It uses a specially prepared thick tea blend made primarily from mountain-grown tea leaves, crafted exclusively for Cha no Ka.

Each cookie was individually sealed, measuring approximately 6 × 2.5 × 0.3 cm, with each layer accounting for about a third of the total thickness. The biscuit had a deep green hue, stamped with the character for “tea,” and sandwiched a white chocolate layer.

On tasting, the outer biscuit delivered an initial bitterness from the matcha upon contact with the palate, with a slight stickiness. Biting through, the cookie offered a delicate, crisp crunch before the white chocolate centre softened the texture, rehydrating the biscuit and introducing a balancing sweetness. This created a rich matcha chocolate flavour, with the thick tea blend intensifying the matcha’s depth while maintaining a contrasting crispness throughout the bite. As the cookie melted on the palate, a lingering bitterness and moderate astringency persisted well into the aftertaste, even after the sweetness receded.

There was no mistaking the presence of matcha in this langue de chat, making it a refined and satisfying treat for matcha enthusiasts who appreciate both bold flavour and delicate texture.
