This is the Mango Grapefruit Boom ($10.90, +$2.00 for upsize, light ice, regular sugar, aqua green jasmine tea (slushie), ruby grapefruit pulp) from HEYTEA in September 2024.

The drink was served in a non-shakeable cup, leading to uneven sips—intense bursts of mango flavour alternated with much milder, creamy coconut milk. The sago and “bobo pops” (white pearls) added texture but lacked sweetness or flavour, making some sips feel bland. The grapefruit pulp was sparse and barely noticeable, while the green jasmine tea slushie remained at the top of the cup until the final sips, resulting in a weak, watery finish that contrasted with the bold mango flavours at the start.
While light, refreshing, and featuring fresh, sweet mango, the drink lacked balance and cohesion compared to similar versions, such as the Mango Sago from Tiger Sugar.

This is the Mango Grapefruit Boom ($10.90, fixed size, regular ice, less sugar, aqua green jasmine tea (slushie), ruby grapefruit pulp) from Hey Tea in February 2025. Under the theme “Adding a Touch of BOBO to the World”, this limited-edition cup design, inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s art, was part of HEY TEA’s sponsorship of Kusama’s “Life of the Pumpkin Recites, All About the Biggest Love for the People”—an art installation that opened in Shanghai in November 2024. Alongside the cup, specially crafted keychains and mugs were available from 30 December 2024. The exhibition featured Kusama’s largest pumpkin sculpture to date, a 10-meter-tall installation adorned with her signature polka dots.

Since our first encounter with this drink 4–5 months earlier, HEYTEA had replaced the fat-free bobo pops with coconut milk jelly, while also incorporating larger mango chunks and thinning the frozen slush, making the drink easier to mix. These changes significantly improved both texture and flavour, resulting in a smoother consistency, a richer mango profile with fresh sweet acidity, and a creamier coconut milk presence from the added jelly. Overall, this revised version achieved a balance and cohesion on par with Tiger Sugar’s Mango Sago.
This Mango Grapefruit Boom was purchased from HEYTEA in Sydney, Australia, in September 2024 and February 2025.
