The dish was served with a generous portion of smooth, springy noodles and ample black bean sauce. The sauce included diced pork, cabbage, and onions, offering a pleasant textural contrast to the noodles. While the overall flavour was satisfying, the sauce could have benefited from a stronger fermented umami presence to deepen its complexity. A solid example of the dish, though not particularly memorable.

Tangsuyuk ($32.00, +$10.00 for medium)

This sweet and sour pork dish featured well-cut strips of pork, each piece evenly coated in a thin, crisp batter that retained its crunch throughout the meal. The meat was tender with no excessive batter or filler. The sauce, served separately as preferred, had a pronounced molasses-like sweetness and a tangy depth reminiscent of ripe pineapple, further emphasised by the inclusion of fresh pineapple pieces. Additional vegetables—cucumber, cabbage, and carrot—contributed texture and freshness. A well-executed and generous serving, fried to order.

Dong Bo Sung delivers reliable, well-portioned Korean-Chinese comfort food in a relaxed setting. Worth visiting for the tangsuyuk, in particular, which stood out for its freshness, balance, and execution.
