This is the Nippon Yell Dried Fruits Ehime Yuzu. It used yuzu produced in Ehime Prefecture.

The yuzu peel varied in length and width and had a brown-orange hue, different from the typical yellow to orange hue we expect from dried yuzu peel. Some surfaces were coated in white crystallised sugar.

Upon tasting, the peel had a firm texture that bit through cleanly, revealing immediate floral citrus notes. However, a noticeable bitterness emerged mid-bite, along with a pronounced yuzu oil presence dominating the finish. The bitterness lingered in the aftertaste and intensified between bites, while the yuzu oils left a slightly numbing sensation on the tongue. The yuzu flavour lacked brightness, and the overall floral bitter flavour was reminiscent of chinotto but with more manageable bitterness. Overall, we would not repurchase this brand of yuzu peel over other available brands we’ve tried.

This Zennoh Nippon Yell Dried Fruits Ehime Yuzu contained 20 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Hong Kong in 2023.
