Taniguchi Yamagata Sakuranbo Kirara

This is the Taniguchi Yamagata Sakuranbo Kirara, made with cherries produced in Yamagata Prefecture.

Each box contained 6 individualyl sealed pieces.

Each piece had an orange-yellow hue, measuring 4 x 3 x 4 cm, with a vibrant red cherry approximately 1.5 cm in diameter suspended within.

When consumed chilled, the jelly held its shape yet yielded gently on the palate, delivering a rich red-blushed cherry flavour—sweet with a brighter acidity than the muskier dark red cherries commonly found in Australia. The preserved cherry inside had a softer, more textured mouthfeel compared to the smoothness of the jelly, offering an intense red-blushed cherry flavour. The presence of the pit served as a firm reminder of the fruit’s authenticity. Overall, these jellies were an enjoyable way to appreciate Yamagata cherries year-round, though a slightly firmer cherry texture would have been preferred.
