Perugina Baci Ovetti Assorted Chocolate

These Baci Perugina Ovetti Assorted Chocolate are a seasonal take on the classic Baci chocolates with an assortment of dark and milk mini egg chocolates with filling.

First up is their Original in their signature silver foil with dark blue stars: a dark chocolate shell with a milk chocolate gianduja and chopped hazelnut filling. These eggs don’t have the whole hazelnut that are in the classic chocolates.

The eggs have a rich aroma of dark chocolate – bitter and minimally sweet. Biting through the crisp dark chocolate shell before reaching the softer gianduja, the chopped hazelnuts add a delicious crunchy contrast to the rich chocolate as it melts to a smooth creaminess.

In a light blue foil with silver stars, is the Latte: a milk chocolate shell with a milk chocolate gianduja and chopped hazelnut filling.

With dark chocolate shell replaced by a milk chocolate, the shell melts with the centre resulting in a sweeter experience. We prefer the dark chocolate shell that not only brought a crisper texture but cuts through the sweetness with its gentle bitterness.

Finally, in black foil with silver stars is the Fondentissimo: a dark chocolate shell with dark chocolate gianduja and chopped hazelnut filling.

This is essentially a dark chocolate version of the milk chocolate one above, and surprisingly it works better due to the more restrained sweetness. That said, it’s the original combination of a dark chocolate shell with milk chocolate centre that finds the best balance.

We enjoy these eggs immensely, but we do prefer the eggs by Ferrero more for the added crispness of the wafer.

This Baci Perugina Ovetti Fondente Dark Chocolate contained 150 g or 17 pieces. It was produced in Italy and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
