Chrysanthemum tea that came in single serve envelopes of sugar tisane were a regular fixture in my childhood. But unsweetened chrysanthemum tea is a more recent introduction to my palate. This here is Ottogi Chrysanthemum Tea, a Korean brand.

Infusing 2 envelopes in 200 mL of water at 85°C for 2.5 minutes yields a transparent yellow-green liquor with an earthy nose. Upon tasting, a pleasant chrysanthemum flavour builds through the body to a clean finish. The chrysanthemum is lightly sweet and floral with strong vegetal and earthy notes like a green rooibos or a chamomile with its apple-like sweetness pared back. I imagine less crushed and more whole chrysanthemum tea may have a brighter flavour, but this infusion by Ottogi is the perfect everyday palate cleanser.
This Ottogi Chrysanthemum Tea contained 20 envelopes. It was packed in Korea and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2015.
