It’s not often that you find lychee juice in a Western supermarket, so it was a must try when we spotted this Dewlands Lychee Juice in Harris Farm Markets. It’s a blend of 86% grape juice with 14% lychee juice.

The juice is a translucent yellow colour with a sweet lychee nose. Served chilled, the floral notes of lychee came through first through your sense of smell before it emerged in the taste. While the sweetness recalled the intense sweetness of grapes from the base, it also reminds of ripe, in season lychees and persisted through to the finish with the grape notes returning to linger in the aftertaste. The sweetness is intense and moderately acidic, but it remains a natural lychee flavour and does not border on being perfume-like as you can get in artificial lychee flavour as in Lychee Drink by Yeos.
