This Nespresso Forest Black was a part of the Festive 2021 collaboration with Colombian fashion designer Johanna Ortiz who was inspired by the forest.

The coffee was a medium-dark blend of Arabicas from Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and India and grown sheltered from the direct sun to create a cooler environment for the coffee cherry to ripen more slowly and so protect the aromas that later develop during roasting and brewing. It was roasted using the split-roast technique (50/50) with the first slightly lighter and longer than the second darker roast. It had an intensity of 7 out of 13 and comes in a dark green capsule with light green floral motifs.

The espresso was a semi-opaque brown-black colour with a dark-roasted peppery spiced aroma. Served as a long black, sweet cereal notes came through briefly before a delicate acidity emerged in the body and built in the body alongside woody, peppery spice notes that came to prominence in the finish with a moderate roasted bitterness that lingered long on the palate. The coffee had a medium body with balanced notes of acidity and bitterness, but we prefer our coffees with more subdued peppery spice notes and more pronounced cereal, chocolatey or nutty notes.
This Nespresso Forest Black contained 10 x 5.3 g capsules. It was produced in Switzerland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
